The Alaia (ah-LEI-ah) is a straight-lined, finless wooden surfboard, which historically was widely used in Hawaii. It was a very popular model used for centuries that fell into disuse at the end of the 19th century, only to reappear again in the 21st century.
More than just being a surfboard, the Alaia is a symbol of surfing culture. The boards are signed and numbered, their appearance is preserved by a clean, durable and non-toxic finish, made from on a mixture of natural waxes.
The DNA of Portugal is built into each Ahua Alaia, with special cork details positioned on the tail.
Each Alaia Ahua is custom-made for each surfer, using only solid paulownia wood. The boards are 100% crafted by hand with a minimal impact on the environment. It's probably the most eco-friendly surfboard in the world.
Send us your height, weight, and preferences, and we will build your Alaia.
